Driver - Crane at Sappi Tugela Mill

Sappi Tugela Mill requires a Driver:Crane to operate a mobile crane on site and control all lifting equipment related to the mobile cranes, in according to safe engineering standards.

This role reports to Foreman: Mechanical

The main responsibilities of the job are:

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

• Operate mobile crane to assist Riggers with their tasks (loading, offloading, removal & install equipment.
• To ensure that colour coding is done as required on all lifting equipment used by the mobile cranes.

• To ensure that equipment that is not safe for use are replaced or send for repairs.
• Do daily vehicle inspections on all machinery.  (Tractors, Bartow and Truck.
• Ensure housekeeping is done on a daily basis – clean Rigger shop, workshop, rigging tools and other equipment.
• Ensure that machinery is cleaned once a week (Foreman to allocated people).
• Ensure crane registers and log books are up to date.
• Assist with the transportation of gearboxes, motors and pumps.
• Operate Bartow, tractors, forklifts if declared competent (if licensed).
• Assist cleaning scrapyard with cranes and Bartow when assistance is required.
• Work shifts (night or day shift) as required from time to time.
• Do standby as required from time to time.

ENSURES, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE

• Understands the SHEQ requirements of the Section.
• Investigates incidents (SHEQ) and identify root causes of Non-Conformances and corrects deviations.
• Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all time

The ideal candidate should have:

• Matric & N2 Engineering (N3 Desirable)
• Two years’ experience in a heavy Engineering Environment.
